My Story
As a child, I was raised within the Roman Catholic religion and attended a Roman Catholic private elementary school (ages 3-9 yrs). During my adolescence, I would occasionally attend the nearby local Baptist churches with many of my neighborhood friends. However, it wasn't until the age of 19 that my spiritual journey actually began and eventually brought me to faith in Christ Jesus [Yeshua the Messiah] at the age of 32.
In the interest of being honest, I am also a former member of the Living Church of God ("LCG," July 2005 to July 2015), which is a religious organization that is considered to be a "Cult of Christianity" because their belief system and practices deviate significantly from and often contradict the testimony of the Holy Scriptures. This organization is one of the hundreds of splinter groups of the former Worldwide Church of God (WCG) that adhere to the theology of Herbert W. Armstrong (Armstrongism).
Then from 2010 to 2015, God graciously led me to discover that the information presented as "evidence" or "facts" (hermeneutics, history, prophecy, archeology, philology, etymology, genealogy, genetics) to support the various truth claims made by Herbert W. Armstrong, the WCG, LCG, and the Armstrong COG community, actually refuted their truth claims and showed their theology to be false, unbiblical, and not representative of Biblical Christianity or "Original Christianity." The Holy Spirit showed me through the Holy Scriptures how this false belief system is the preaching of a different Jesus and a different gospel (2 Corinthians 11:4). He then pointed me to God's Truth, which is grounded in the reality of what and who God is and the fact that salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ alone. This revelation would eventually lead to my departure from LCG in 2015. Three years later, the LORD powerfully led my wife to leave this organization and renounce the Armstrong theology!
As a Gentile follower of Messiah Yeshua [Christ Jesus], I embrace a harmonized expression of faith that draws from both the Messianic Jewish approach and the Mainstream Christian tradition. However, I do not practice Messianic Judaism, Hebrew Roots, Hebrew Israelism, or "Torahism". As a result, I feel called to be a bridge between the Church, the Messianic Jewish Community, and the Jewish people.
Additionally, my hope and heart desires to glorify God by drawing others to Jesus through my life, testimony, and active involvement in Evangelism, Counter-Cult Ministry, and Discipleship, which are undergirded by Christian Apologetics and always grounded in the truth of Christ Jesus and the Holy Scriptures.
I believe it is essential to learn from our successes and failures and teach from them. My spiritual journey isn't over; it's just beginning. Thus far, I have learned that I need to share God's Story and my faith in Christ Jesus not just by talking about it, but also by how I live my life. Sharing my story and the lessons God has blessed me to learn in my Spiritual journey -- no matter how embarrassing they may be -- might benefit others and hopefully help them avoid making some of the same errors I made. If I can assist others and point people to the true Messiah Yeshua [Christ Jesus] of the Bible, then I count it a great joy, success, and true blessing. Perhaps that is the best anyone can do in this life in order to leave our planet a little better than we found it.
