How Did the Church Get Cut Off From Its Biblical and Jewish Roots?

Updated: Nov 22, 2019

At the Council of Nicaea, under Constantine's oversight, the Church formally and correctly affirmed the Apostles' teaching of the full deity of Christ Jesus (the nature of God the Son in relation to God the Father).

Unfortunately, at this meeting, the Church also decided to formally disconnect from the Biblical and Jewish roots of Christian theology and practice when it decided to no longer remember the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus during the time period when these events actually took place which was during the Spring Feasts of the LORD (Passover, the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and the Feast of First Fruits). Instead, the Church chose to celebrate these events independently of the Biblical account and calendar, during what is now known in Christendom as 'Easter'. This is just one of many examples, but there are more.

I believe that it is important to remind the Church of its Biblical and Jewish roots in order to provide insight into the biblical context of the Christian faith, help evangelize both Jew and Gentiles, counter Anti-Semitism and Replacement Theology, and to bring new life to Christian worship.

Additionally, I encourage you to please watch the video above by Dr. Michael Brown in where he briefly discusses some issues, as well as mentioning the erroneous views of replacement theology.
